Morphological Study for the effect of Trichosanthis Radix Aqua - acupuncture in Langerhans islets of Rats ( Cytohistological observation by Light Microscopic Observation )




Abstract
This study was aimed to evaluate the effect of Trichosanthis Radix Aqua-acupuncture on the Aloxan-induced diabetic ratsby using cytohistological stain method.
The experimental animals were injected 100§·/§¸ i.p.injection of alloxan and administered Trichosanthis Radix Aqua-acupuncture extract into the loci corresponding to Choksamni (S_(36)) and Sinsu (B_(23)) of the human body for 14 days.
The experimental animals were dissected on 1st, 3rd, 7th and 14th days of Aqua-acupuncture.
The sections of pancreas were stained by abidin-biotin complex method.
Langerhanss islets and insulin granules were observed by light microscopic observation.
The resuls obtained were as follow :
1. In normal groups the cystohistological findings were stained of dark-brown color in b-cells comprise the irregularly arranged cord type.
2. At 1st week of control groups the cytohistological findings were that numerous b-cells were distributed throughout the islets.
3 At 2nd week of control groups the cytohistological findings were that the degranulated b-cells were increased in number as compared with normal groups.
4. At 2nd week of Choksamni(S_(36)) aqua-acupuncture treatment groups the cytohistological findings were that b-cells were more increased in number but degranulated were decreased as compared with control groups.
5. At 2nd week of Sinsu(B_(23)) aqua-acupuncture treatment groups cytohistological findings were that B-cells were decreased more remarkably degranulated than those of Choksamni aqua-acupuncture group as well as decreased in number in the atrophic islets of the control goups.
In accorance with the above results, the Trichosanthis Radix aqua-acupuncture to Choksamni (S_(36)) and Sinsu (B_(23)) has inhibitious action of insulin degranulated B-cells of Langerhanss islets.
